Thame sheep fair

A very interesting day at Thame Sheep Fair last Friday watching over 18,000 Suffolk and Mule yearlings sold through the auction. A glorious sunny day made it even more enjoyable. A good catch up with fellow auctioneers, caught some locals, a couple selling and a couple just up to see and bumped in to Peter Morris and Family from Aylesbury, who's cows I sold three years ago.

A very busy day with a 25 minute round trip for the sheep from pen to ring and back to pen and a trade not too dissimilar to what we have been seeing in Whitland. Down on the year but certainly not dyer. There were maybe stronger yearlings for the money, which would then make Whitland, pound for pound (lbs), a better trade :). Although the best pen of the day did get up to £208 most of the suffolks were from £90 to mid £130s that I saw and the Mules seemed to be heading the same way before I left for home. A really good day though and well worth the look if anyone hasn't been.
